The inspiration for today's card began with some "retro" designer paper and a piece of card stock too small for a standard A2 sized card. I decided that I would just make it work, and let some of the Happy Day designer paper peek through from the inside. The lava lamp was colored with Copic markers and given a little added Spica sparkle, then cut out and popped up on dimensional dots. The small design of the printed paper and the contrast of the colors really help the lamp to stand out against the background.
I used several different prints to decorate the narrower card front, framing the punny sentiment with a nestabilities heart and contrasting scalloped heart mat. The orange button ties the blobby lava lamp idea from image to sentiment, and the glimmer ribbon adds even more sparkle. I just LOVE these happy colors!
We actually have TWO lava lamps in our house! Our son, who is 16, bought an authentic one at a consignment shop! The other is a reproduction. I think he would get a kick out of this card for Valentine's Day!
