ihp design team challenge

Welcome to this month's i {heart} papers design team challenge! This month, our challenge is "Lights All Aglow!" As the holidays approach many of us will decorate our homes inside and out with twinkling, beautiful lights...at the same time, the daylight hours are shortening and we are ever aware of the importance of light in our lives!  Thank God the sun comes up every morning!  Light was the first created thing, and evening and morning were the first day...I love that reminder that the light always overcomes the darkness!

I can hardly wait to see what my design team mates have come up with for today's challenge!  For my creation I started with a potpourri-filled jar with a lamp adapter...I thought Santa might need something to light the way to the cookies and milk!  OCL's vintage Santa set, Ole Saint Nick, provides the perfect traditional images for a project like this.   The images were stamped with Memento ink, colored with Copic markers, aged with distress ink, and given some holiday sparkle with Copic Spica glitter pens.  A few are popped up on Zva adhesive dots to add depth and dimension, which really shows when the lamp is lit.  The tag is held in place by a beautiful traditional red crinkle crepe bow and a bit of baker's twine.

Why should this be something Santa only enjoys after his work is done?  The addition of a little Basic Grey designer paper on the back of the tag makes this a useful item for Santa even before Christmas arrives...it's a convenient place for him to keep track of who's been naughty or nice and whether a gift is in order versus a bag of coal!

I used a circle punch to provide a little reinforcement for another strand of baker's twine that holds a pencil handy, so that Santa has everything he needs to make his list and check it twice before the big day arrives.

Enjoy hopping through the blogs of our awesome design team, and leave some love along the way!  I am sure you'll be inspired to bring some light into your life to brighten the long winter nights!
